A wonderful 4.90 X 9.50 swimming pool, with its depth varying from 0.90 to 1.5 meters, is located in front of stairs leading to the terrace and it provokes you to dive at once! The pool area is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas, where you can sunbathe all day long, enjoying the hot greek sun! A few steps away a 10 sqm. children’s pool, 60 cm deep, promises a lot of fun for our little guests and less worries for you! Your kids and you, will have fun with the two bicycles available at the villa, the children’s toys at the terrace, the table football and the ping pong! To make things even better, a big, shaded dining area, BBQ facilities and traditional wood oven, are also available at the terrace, giving you ample opportunity for al fresco dining or just relaxing outdoors.

There are some small taverns in the village square where you can enjoy your meal or your coffee/ drink. Also there is a mini market market which is located opposite the main church in the beginning of the village.

A historical and geophysical site
The Melidoni Cave is located about 1.800 metres northwest of the village. It has an extremely interesting history and amazing archaeological findings some of which are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Rethymno. The Melidoni cave is also called "Gerondospilios". It was used for religious ceremonies. During the Minoan Civilization, it was a place of worship for Talos the bronze giant guardian of Crete who protected the island of Crete from enemies. It is of archaeological and historical interest. Men, women and children lost their lives in the cave in January 1824. In the central room of the cave there is an ossuary containing the bones of the heroes of Melidoni cave.
A cosmopolitan seaside village with neoclassical buildings and the air of nobility.
Panormo is situated about 8km of Melidoni. There are actually two main beaches and a few smaller ones. The harbor (Limanaki) beach in front of the village is the port of the area. It is ideal for children, as it is shallow and well protected from winds with piers, where the boats tie up. It is organized with umbrellas, showers, water sports and accommodation facilities around.
A picturesque fishing village built by the sea
Bali is situated about 8km of Melidoni. In the past, during the Venetian occupation the village was called Atali, coming from its old greek name Astali. You can find a monastery nearby which is named Atali. There are four beautiful, organized beaches which are protected from the strong north summer winds by the small gufls. The names of the beaches is Livadi, which is the biggest and it has sandy beach, the next one is Varkotopos which has.sandy beach, too. After, there are the Limani beach which is the port of Bali and the Karavostasi beach which is hidden behind of the hill with pebbled beach and smalls bays. Also you can find many taverns, cocktail-bars and shops.

Margarites is situated about 10 km of Melidoni. The Pottery has a tradition of Margarites . Today , the people still work in imitation of ancient Minoan pottery , for tourist consumption. The potters of the village were called “magarikoi” in the Byzantine period . These are given the name to the village. Margarites is a traditional Cretan village. The monastery decorates the village with exquisite garden. The month of August the village organizes one theater performances which is known throughout the prefecture of Rethymnon .
A huge ancient landscape.
Ancient Eleftherna is situated about 18 km of Melidoni. Thousands findings , which are unimpeachable witnesses of the history of Eleftherna , have come from the three major , systematic excavations of the University of Crete. And about 500 of them were selected to set up the exhibition " Eleftherna : City - Acropolis - Necropolis " launched at the Cycladic Art Museum in Athens in December 2004. Ancient Eleftherna was visited to the public in 2008 while the excavation is continued with significant findings.
Sfedoni cave and Wax statues museum
Sfedoni Cave, in Zoniana is situated about 18km of Melidoni. This is one of the largest caves in Greece with surface 3400m. and a length of 145 m. The wax statues museum is a specially designed space of 1000 square meters which is decorated by scenes of the Cretan history.

Anogeia is situated about 24 km of Melidoni. Anogia is a place with history and tradition. The history of the place is full of struggles and sacrifices for freedom. The three burnt in 1822 and 1867 by the Turks and in 1944 by the Nazis testify the heroism and the sacrifices of Anogians. The tradition is passing down from generation to generation. Here great traditional musicians were born like Nikos Xilouris. Anogia is situated at the foothills of Psiloritis. Zeus, the father of the gods, was hidden in the Ideon Cave. Nida plateau is situated about 35km of Melidoni. Nida plateau (1400m) located in the center of the massif of Psiloritis. Here the goddess Demeter felt in love with the mortal Iasion and Renaissance hero Charidimos chased and rejoiced his love . In modern history the Nida plateau was a center of resistance to the German occupation. Today the Nida plateau is a rich ranching area with dry stone mitata. The mitata are used by shepherds for seasonal residence and activities which are related to the complete cycle of dairy. In recent years there is a combined effort to develop alternative forms of tourism. Mitata are restored and the archaeological site of Ideon Andron and Ascension are reforested
A historic monastery
The Monastery of Arkadi is a historic monastery in Crete. According to tradition it was founded by Emperor Heraklion and rebuilt around the 5th century by the Byzantine Emperor Arcadius, whose name bears his honor. Others said it was founded by a monk who is named Arcadius and therefore monastery is calles Arkadi.Remains of the first monastery have been preserved in the northwestern part of the enclosure. The most important part of Arkadi Monastery is the central two-aisled church , the Catholicon , which is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior ( one aisle ) , and the Saints Constantine and Helen ( the other aisle ) , surrounded by very thick yard walls in which there various auxiliary buildings . The Turkish yoke in Crete count already two hundred and fifty years when - after ongoing uprisings - Cretan rebels began to gather in Arkadi from March 3, 1866 . The attack began on 8 November 1866. In the monastery there were 964 souls , 325 men and the rest women and children.
