Nida plateau is situated about 35km of Melidoni. Nida plateau (1400m) located in the center of the massif of Psiloritis. Here the goddess Demeter felt in love with the mortal Iasion and Renaissance hero Charidimos chased and rejoiced his love . In modern history the Nida plateau was a center of resistance to the German occupation. Today the Nida plateau is a rich ranching area with dry stone mitata. The mitata are used by shepherds for seasonal residence and activities which are related to the complete cycle of dairy. In recent years there is a combined effort to develop alternative forms of tourism. Mitata are restored and the archaeological site of Ideon Andron and Ascension are reforested
